Concord Health - Finalist 2012 NSW Export Award

NSW Export Award Finalists showcase innovation as a key driver of export success
Lisa McAuley - Friday, September 21, 2012

It has always been said that export companies tend to spend more on research and training and tend to achieve better results than companies that market only within Australia. This year the 2012 Premier’s NSW Export Awards finalist list would certainly confirm that thinking and you could add one more attribute to the list and that’s innovation. The judging task would have been the most difficult seen for some years because in spite of the currency and lingering GFC challenges, many of the States exporters have taken on these hurdles and largely through innovation have produced some excellent outcomes.

The Export Council of Australia Executive Director, Ian Murray said that the quality of the entries this year in New South Wales was by far the best in more than five years, “In this global economic environment it is difficult to maintain sales and market share let alone deliver a healthy margin. Many export awards finalists this year did both, even companies doing business in Europe and the United States achieved good outcomes.”

Interestingly, the success is not confined to one or two business sectors but spread quite evenly across the board. The Export Council of Australia has always argued that having a diverse export base is critical to the creation of jobs. The recent softening of the resources sector clearly highlights the importance of having export capability in a range of business disciplines and the Export Council of Australia urges Government to increase its support for the sector through encouraging greater innovation.

The Export Council of Australia joins with NSW Trade & Investment and sponsors of the 2012 Premier’s NSW Export Awards in congratulating the 2012 finalists and looks forward to a night of celebration at the Awards Dinner on the 11th October at the Sydney Convention Centre in Darling Harbour.
